Cell division occurs in two main stages namely meiosis and mitosis. The mitosis has several phases namely Prophase, Prometaphase (sometimes considered part of prophase), Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase and Cytokinesis. During the mitosis stage the chromosomes are duplicated and are aligned, separated and moved into new and identical daughter cells.
