Photosynthetic autotrophs are organisms that utilize light or energy from the sun to synthesize organic compounds or food. Examples of photosynthetic autotrophs are algae, plants and cyanobacteria. Protists do not have chloroplasts or any membrane bound organelles. Arthropods do not have chloroplasts since they dont contain plant cells.
