What are natural rights

They are rights that people are thought to have been born with. Enlightenment thinkers believed that natural rights were something every human being everywhere, no matter their background or social class, had just because they were born. They're rights that you're born with. For example, most people in the US believe freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press are natural rights. Most people also believe that it's the government's job to protect these rights.
