The Turkish population quickly came in a situation where they did not saw the Armenians as equally human as them, but instead, they started to look at them as lesser humans, imposters, vermins, etc.

With tensions and propaganda constantly being forced among the public, the Turkish people started to attack the Armenians. The attacks consisted of verbal abuse and harassment, physical attacks, torture, and sexual abuse. This was further encouraged by the fact that anything could have been done to the Armenians but no law applied for it, and the government encouraged it to continue further. The Armenians were no longer seen and treated as humans.
