Answer: In ancient Greece, Athens

Explanation: Democracy originated in ancient Greece, more specifically in Athens in the 6th or 5th century BC. Athens was one of the city-states in Greece. In addition to Athens, there were other city-states but not with a democratic order and philosophy, some of them had an aristocratic and royal system. According to some scientific sources, the first established democracy was in Athens in 507 BC, therefore in the 6th century, though it may have taken full swing in the 5th century BC. It was a direct democracy and a role model to many of today's, indirect democracies.
