Why are presidential elections considered to be indirect elections?

Answer:

It is referred that way due to the Electoral College actually doing the voting. The voting done by the citizens are given to the college and then tallied by them.

Presidential elections in the United States of America are considered indirect elections because of the fact that the people of the country elect the electoral college and that in turn is responsible for the election of the president. This procedure is followed in several countries. I hope the answer comes to your help.
