Creating a bigger difference between the poleward temperature and equatorward temperature makes it more windy. Why is that?

The simple answer is : Wind is affected by air movement, air movement affected by air pressure, and air pressure is affected by temperature
creating a bigger difference between temperature will create a bigger transition of the air pressure, which make the region more windy
