During peace negotiations, France ceded almost all of Canada to Britain. Britain responded by expelling a huge population of French-speaking Canadians, especially from a part of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia know as Acadiana. Many of these people evacuated to France's colonies in southern Louisiana, where they became know as Cajuns.

I hope it's helpful.
