Why weren’t the Articles of Confederation successful in governing the new nation?

In general, any confederation is weak. In a confederation, nearly everyone has to agree for something to be passed, such as a law. So the Articles of Confederation were very weak.

Because it gave the most of the power to the states and made the central federal government very weak, causing the nation to not be able to work as a whole.
