Multiply the second equation by -1 and add them together.

You get 3y=3
So y=1.

If y=1, x+1=5.
So, x=4.

{ x + y = 5 * ( 2 )
x - 2y = 2

2 x + 2 y = 10
x - 2 y = 2
_____________
3 x = 12

x = 12 / 3

x = 4

For y :

x + y = 5

4 + y = 5

y = 5 - 4

y = 1

S = ( 4, 1 )

hope this helps!
