This touching poem was written under the influense of Tennyson beloved friend’s death, and in these two quatrains we can see expressing of love and difficulty handling with author’s loss.

I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it when I sorrow most;'Tis better to have loved and lostThan never to have loved at all.------Nor could I weary, heart or limb,When mighty Love would cleave in twainThe lading of a single pain,And part it, giving half to him.
