While Athena was known for its science, democracy, culture, Sparta was known for training seven-year-old boys to become the famous Spartan soldiers. Athens was ruled by Archons democratically elected every year, while Sparta was ruled by kings, the two of them until their death, or were forced to leave office, as well as council of aristocrats elders who had political power.
