Allies were successful to invading north Africa due to many of the allies already having colonies in Africa.

Yes. The Allies were sucessful because they already had colonies in Africa.

The French colonies in north Africa helped the Allies because they were sympathetic to the French Army, this was essential to make their plans work and the operation turned out to be sucessful.
