B. Serfs
Serfs were the medieval equivalent of a peasant. They were basically trapped on the land that they lived and forced to work the land for the feudal lord of the manor.

The answer is b.serfs. Serfdom was a condition of bondage - debt bondage in which they are answerable either because of money or obligation. Debt bondage has been described by the United Nations as modern day slavery.
