Antibiotics are commonly known and used to cure infections with bacteria, not viral infections.

The reason to this is because viruses use their host cells to live as they are intracellular parasites.

Antiviral drugs are usually used when there are viral infections. This prevents them from reproducing and improves the immunity.

Hope I helped. :)

Antibiotics are ineffective against viruses because viruses do not have cells.
