So, It First Flew 1000 Miles Away. So, It Is Positive 1000 Miles. Now, It Flew 500 Miles Closer, So Negative (closer) Distance. So, Add. 1000+(-500)
Adding Negative Is The Same As Subtracting So, 1000-500 = The Distance.
So, The Distance Away Is 500 Miles.
