An athlete is making an appearance and signing autographs at a new sporting goods store. He agrees to give 20% of his profit to youth sports programs and 5% of his profit to his manager. If he profits $1,000.00 selling autographs and merchandise, how much of that profit does he take home?

Since, The amount he gave to youth sports programs = 20 % of his total profit = 20 % of 1000

= 0.2 × 1000

= $ 200

Also the amount he gave to his manager = 5 % of his total profit,

= 5 % of 1000

= 0.05 × 1000

= $ 50

Thus, the total amount he gave = $ 200 + $ 50 = $ 250

Since, the amount he will take home = Total profit - The amount he gave

= 1000 - 250

= $ 750
