What's the major trade items traded on the triangular trade routes

in the past, from the US it was mostly cotton (obtained via slaves) and lumber which they took to England and traded for food spices and other recourses. then they went to Africa and traded that for more slaves.
today its the same but africa now trades oil, instead of slaves, for what they need
