The Nazis gained power in Germany when Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party, became supreme chancellor, or furer. He promised the people of Germany a better life because Germany had spiraled into a deep depression after being forced to pay for all of the damage done during world war one and for that he was elected.

In January 1933 Hitler became chancellor of Germany and by August 1934, he had declared himself Fuhrer-the leader of Germany.
