What are the legacies of the Civil War?

There is the abolition of slavery.There probably could be no Civil Rights Movement without the former slaves freedom.
The South lost a lot,and was disturbed economically and had to go through Reconstruction. The Confederate flag still flies.The war was a democratic experience or test for the people. The Union was proved more important than states' rights.
