Answer

The doctor would not prescribe antibiotics to treat viral infections such as flu.

Usually, infections like flu are treated with bed rest and lots of fluid intakes.

It helps the immune system of the body to fight against a viral infection.

In addition, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicines are suggested to take in case of pain and inflammations.

In some cases, antiviral drugs such as peramivir (Rapivab), oseltamivir (Tamiflu), zanamivir (Relenza)

et cetera are prescribed for the treatment.

In contrast, antibiotics are mainly used to treat bacterial infections instead of viral infections.

No, they would not prescribe antibiotics for you because antibiotics kill bacteria, but viral infections such as the flu are hosted by viruses rather than bacteria.
