Intonation refers to the change in the pitch (high or low sound) of the voice. An example of intonation is when a person makes a statement or asks a question. The difference in pitch at the end of a statement and question show the importance of intonation. When reading poems, intonation is also useful in the dynamics of the speaker's attitude and emotions.
