This is a true statement. Semantics is concerned with the meaning of words used in a sentence. In fact, there are three branches of semantics: formal, lexical, and conceptual. Formal semantics deals with the logical meanings; lexical semantics studies word meanings and relations as used in a sentence; and conceptual semantics focuses on the cognitive inference of meaning.
