One way to interpret "automatic process" it a process that does not require conscious control. A lot of such behaviours are innate, but some can be learnt, for example if you live next to a busy street, you might learn to be careful around it without explicitly thinking about it -this would be an example of a learnt automatic process.
So the statement is true.
