Does the rate of soil formation increase or decrease in areas with steep slopes? Then EXPLAIN the reasoning behind your answer.

In steep slopes, the rate of soil formation decreases. In these areas, water will run off rapidly and may erode the surfaces of the soil. This will result to poor soil on these areas while at the lower part of the slope deposits are found. Also, sunlight is much more direct at those area which can cause the soil to dry.
