The women’s suffrage movement (women’s right to vote) was the first public movement in which American women took leadership roles in the government. The movement advocated for the right of women to vote in general elections and also vie for public offices. The united States Senate, in 1919 June, it passed and approved an amendment which enabled all, irrespective of women or men, to have equal rights of voting, hence, removal of sex-based restrictions on voting. By 1920, the amendment was [sufficiently ratified in all states.
Though there had been other earlier movements, like, Female Seminary Movement and Temperance Movement, it was during the women’s suffrage movement that women gained access to voting and also being elected as leaders in the public office, through the above constitutional amendment.
