Succession ensures that ecosystems are in balance despite having been formed and/or disturbed by man made or artificial disaster.

Primary succession makes certain that a primary community is in place that will not face drastic change unless affected by a very large, significant disaster.

Secondary succession makes sure that even if a disaster occurs, the community is able to reach equilibrium and thrive again.
