Remember PEMDAS. So start with the parentheses and do the multiplication inside the parentheses first.
1/2 (4+6*3) -9 multiply 6 and 3
1/2 (4 + 18) -9 add 4 and 18 1/2 (22) -9 multiply 1/2 and 22
11 - 9 subtract 11 and 9
