I believe the answer is: D. The artist's intent

for example, If the artist's intent is to send a certain social message through the artwork, then the critic has to focus their attention on the ability of the art to make the message received by the audiences. If the artist is aiming for beauty, the critic should use aesthetical factors instead

In comparing an original work to its recreation in a different mediums a literary critic should try to analyze the artist's intent. Since the artist uses another unique medium on his original work, a literary critic should analyze his intent as to aesthetic and etc. The answer then is letter D.
