And the dot between 5 and 3^2 means multiply.
4^2 + 5 · 3^2 - 4^2 ÷ 2^ 3

4×4 + 5 · 3×3 - 4×4 ÷ 2×2×2

Following the order of operations:
4^2 + 5 * 3^2 – 4^2 / 2^3
16 + 5 * 3^2 – 4^2 / 2^3
16 + 5 * 9 – 4^2 / 2^3
16 + 5 * 9 – 16 / 2^3
16 + 5 * 9 – 16 / 8
16 + 45 – 16 / 8
16 + 45 – 2
