Metals have something called a sea of delocalised electrons, this means that when we pass an electrical charge through them, the electrons in the metal can take the charge and pass it to another electron, and so on, as they arent bound to the shell structure of other substances such as diamond, which has no free electrons to carry the charge so it doesnt conduct
