fascism is a kind of extreme nationalism which demands that people actively serve their own country and which assumes that the greatness of the country, realized by political and military strength, is the main goal of the nation.

A totalitarian state is a state in which the state determines all aspects of life of the people. This is very well suited for fascism, as fascism requires a great effort from the people and a totalitarian state ensure that they are forced to make this effort.
