Chandragupta I was a king of the Gupta dynasty, who ruled in northern India.

From 322 to 185 BCE, the Mauryan dynasty ruled over much of what is now India. The Maurya Empire was led by the Mauryan dynasty. It constituted a geographically extensive and powerful political and military empire in ancient India. The empire stemmed from the kingdom of Magadha.
