Zeus is the god of lightning and thunder as well as the king of the gods and goddesses. It would only be reasonable for him to send a thunderbolt since that is what he controls. (It could not be an eagle because I'm pretty sure that it would say eagles because there were two eagles fighting earlier on that had nothing to do with this! What I was talking about with the eagles is what the person said in the question's comment box!)

In the story the odyssey if that's what you are talking about then the sign was the two eagles dropping down on the congregation(group of people) fighting with their sharp talons ripping each other apart and its impending doom for them.
