Romeo is a Montague, while Juliet is a Capulet and their families are at war aginst each other. They have bad luck because hey know that with the separate homes anger they will never be able to be together. They have miscommunication and misunderstanding because Romeo thinks that Juliet is dead in which he isn't and then vice versa. Readers and the audience are effected by the drama and separate and walled up love of Romeo and Juliet.
Hope this helped.
