Jurisprudence supports the idea that law can and should change to meet new developments in society

Jurisprudence is the general study, or science, of the law: of the different law systems and of the way different laws interact with each other and with the society and their context.

One of the things discussed withing jurisprudence is that the law should match the society it's applied in - so the statement is correct!
