Why did some Asian people's experience little resentment toward Japanese occupation of their countries?

Some Asians viewed the Japanese as liberators against European Imperialism. Some countries like India viewed the Japanese in this way. In reality, the Japanese persecuted many of the countries under their control. Many human rights abuses were made and that is why some captured officers were tried and executed.
