A company sells a mix of peanuts and cashews. For every 3 ounces of peanuts, there are 2 ounces of cashews. A batch has 60 ounces of peanuts. How many ounces of cashews will a batch have?

3:2 ratio 60:?

60 divided by 3 is 20

therefore 2 x 20 = 40

Let x be the ounces of cashew will a batch have.

then by definition of proportion, we have;


(3)/(2) = (60)/(x)

By cross multiply we have;


3x = 120

Divide by 3 on both sides we get;


x = 40

therefore, 40 ounces of cashews will a batch have for every 60 ounces of peanuts.
