The answer is: the population of
bison that feed on the grass will decrease its number.
If a food resource is decreased, it is expected that the population of bisons that feed on that food will decrease, too. It is hard to expect from population to extinct since it is said that only a portion of grass was destroyed. So, the resources will be reduced, but there would still be enough food for the population to survive.
