The cotton gin make cotton become the most dominant agriculture product in the south.

Before the invention of the cotton gin, the southern plantation had to rely on slave labors to separate the seeds from seeds from the cotton bolls. The cotton gin able to do this at a much faster rate. This massively improve the total production that can be had by cotton plantations and generate a lot of wealth for the southern states.
