Food chains and food webs indicate the order in which organisms are eaten. What other information can food chains and food webs provide?

It can also show show the dry mass of living material at each stage of a food chain. Basically, how many organisms eat. For example:
1 oak tree → 1000 caterpillars → 100 shrews → 10 foxes
This is called pyramids of biomass.
