In hereditary monarchies it's common that the position of king or queen is passed down within families and not subjecto popular vote.
There are a few hereditary monarchies left in the world and all of them have quite a lot of influence for world affairs. This is, however, mostly due to historical reasons.

The correct answer is hereditary monarchies. In hereditary monarchies, the position of being a king or queen is passed down within families and is not subject to a popular vote. This monarchy allows the crown to be passed down to the next heir to the throne, which must be a member of the royal family.
