This process is known as natural selection. The first step is overproduction which is when an organism produces more offsprings than can survive. The second is variation. Because so many offsprings are being produced, there WILL be variations. The third is selection. This is when the variation in the organism may or may not be essential for survival. Which leads to adaptation. It is when the variation is passed down generations.
