Military conquests had one of the most prominent roles in the history of the Roman Empire. The fact that the army has always had an important role in the conquests which were continuously happening in the Roman Empire throughout its whole existence, it's safe to say that the armies expanded the borders of the Roman empire as well as maintained them over time.
