What is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to the line y = 8x + 5?

just cancel 8 from both side and then you will have -1/8

perpendicular slopes are oposite inverse, ie. the slopes of perpendicular lines multiply to get -1
8 times -1/8=-8/8=-1

the slope is -1/8
