Dolly Winthrop was very supportive of Silas. She was the type of character who depicted a kind and patient woman who aided Silas greatly. Their first encounter was when Dolly brought Silas a plate of cake with the initials I.H.S. on them. Dolly also gave her advice on how to care for a child when Silas started caring for Eppie.
