Conceding a point in persuasive writing is done for the purpose of giving the opposition partial credit in order to show that the writer is fair but the opposition is weak. To concede a point means to acknowledge another argument that is not your own. So, you are trying to persuade people to believe your argument, but there is another one that you agree with, so you concede a point and give credit to that other argument as well.
