Are movies considered literature?

Technically no since the definition of literature restricts itself to writings and cinema is a visual art.  You could argue that screenplays are literature (and I would 100% agree with that) but a film in and of itself is not literature, though it is still an art and an absolutely beautiful art-form at that.
