Great Britain required more taxation from the colonies because of the French-Indian War. Britain required more and more money for sustaining the cost of the war. Once the war was over, the financial condition of Great Britain was not very good and to reduce the debt, Britain needed to raise money. The colonists were taxed to raise the money.
