lets say the first # is x.
the second # would be x +2 because that would make it the next even integer.
so the equation would be x*x+2 =x+x+16.
(16 is from the fact that the product of the # is 14 more than the sum and the x + 2.)

x^2+2x=2x+16 (we can cancel out 2x on both sides)

x^2=16

x= + or - 4. square root of 4 can be + or - 4.

for this example x cant be four because we are taking about positive even integers.

x=4
